How Group Advocacy Works

First, a definition - What is Group Advocacy?

Group Advocacy is a form of social media marketing where a group of third party believers, fans, or advocates create, curate, schedule, and publish complimentary content and commentary in a coordinated campaignvia their social media accounts on behalf of a company, candidate, or cause. It includes all forms of Employee Advocacy, Customer Advocacy, Channel Partner Advocacy, Political Advocacy, and other groups.

How did Group Advocacy get started and what does it do?

My business partner and I started solving for solution that would automate, track, and measure referrals between members of local business networking groups. As we launched our referral management solution in our test markets in Reno, NV and Austin, TX, we found that our users also wanted to “team up” and cross promote each other on social media. We looked for something with which we could integrate our referral solution, but couldn’t find anything that fit the cross promotional and “team up” goals our users desired.
